D'Tigress Charms With A Third Consecutive Win

The Nigeria women's basketball team, D'Tigress, emerged champions of Africa a third consecutive time after they secured a 70-59 points win over Mali in the final match of the 2021 Federation Internationale de Basketball Amateur (FIBA) Women's AfroBasket on Sunday 25, 2021 in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The Otis Hughley coached team out-played the opposing Malian side in a very bright start with a 22-11 score in the first quarter.

Even though falling short in the second quarter playing 13-9 in favor of Mali, they came back with a bigger margin in the third, 28-14 and so it didn't matter that they fell short again the final quarter scored 21-11, pulling a 70-59 score total for the win.

Nigeria's D'Tigress are the second team in Africa to win three consecutive titles; previously in 2017, Mali and in 2019, Senegal. The first was Senegal, in the 70s and this comes off rather poetic.
