Wizkid & Tems' Essence Is Certified US Platinum

Super-star boy Wizzee and rising star Tems Baby days ago received platinum plaques for their international break collab tune, Essence.

The song of the summer as it is so-called attained its platinum status in the US as certified by RIAA just barely a month after it was certified gold in September 2021. Released as a single from Wizkid's Made In Lagos album, debuted on the billboard music charts at No. 82 and is currently peaking at No. 54, while the remix with Justin Bieber sits at No. 13 - all this just almost one year after the release of the MIL album in October 2021.

This is historical for the African music scene as it is the first time an African artist and song has accomplished this level of success in the US, something many American pop artists only dream of.
